Mortgage payoff
My wife and I are retired and are considering moving in the next year or 2. We hold a mortgage @ 2.625%.
We could pay off the mortgage using about one third of our savings. Would that make sense?

Absolutely, definitely NO!!! That low rate loan is a pain for the lender and a bonus for you, since could easily earn 3.5% in a savings account with the money instead of paying off the loan!!
