Mortgage refinance
When refinancing, is it best to use a broker or go straight to a lender? Is there a no cost way to refinance? We have excellent credit and have more than 20% equity in our home. Thank you.

I think you should go direct, though maybe online. First ask your own bank the rate and costs. Then go online to GuaranteedRate.com or Rocket Mortgages.
And if you’re in the Chicago area, check out Wintrust — Chicago’s largest local bank, truly responsive in the mortgage market. (Tell them I sent you — it will get a laugh! I don’t get anything out of that, but they are our WGN Business Lunch sponsor, and the Chairman Ed Wehmer always reminds me to mention them!!)
