Online Advisors

By Terry Savage on February 19, 2020 | Financial Planning / Retirement

Hi Terry,

I listen to you often on WGN radio. I have some retirement savings spread out being managed by different companies local and national and recently I have been interested in consolidating all my accounts and have them being managed by Personal Capital online and I like the services they have said they will offer. Do you have an opinion on Personal Capital or other online services? I am still a little “old school” and like the idea of talking face to face with an advisor, but I see the benefit in some of these online advisors. Thank you!

Terry Says

The benefits are low cost, organization, and an overall view of your investments. This only drawback is there is no one to literally hold your hand when the market is collapsing and you are scared.
Personal Capital has been successful because it offers not only excellent financial advice, but organizational and planning tools. So if you have the self-discipline to stick with the plan – -and merely yell at your computer during a bear market — then you’ll be just fine!
