Ask Terry Questions Our Federal Tax 2021 Refund

Our Federal Tax 2021 Refund

By Terry Savage on June 14, 2022 | Taxes & Economy

We filed our federal 2021 tax return in mid-February 2022 and mailed it via post office on 2-15-2022. Our tax preparer does not like to file electronically. We still have not received our refund (which we have direct deposit) and when we call or email, we get absolutely no where and cannot get any answers much less talk with anyone. Not even a “we’re processing”. We know it was received through our postal receipts. If there was a problem they would have contacted us by now according to the web site. Our state refund was received within a month. We called our tax preparer as well, but all she knows is they are extremely backed up. We did not have this problem last year. Terry, we always take out a percentage of our social security and pension in order to get a nice refund to pay various bills. We are seniors and depend on this refund. It would be so appreciated if you could give us any advice. Thanks so much for your assistance.

My first advice is to get a new tax preparer for next year. One who “likes” to file electronically, since that is the only way to do it responsibly these days!!
Second, you need to create an ID.me account at the IRS to find out the latest.
Read this article for a link on how to do that.
