Ask Terry Questions Pension Plan Summary from prior employer

Pension Plan Summary from prior employer

By Terry Savage on February 29, 2024 | Financial Planning / Retirement

How can I get a copy of the Pension Plan Summary that was in effect in 1985 for Continental Illinois National Bank? Bank of America is the current company managing the pension program for CINB, however, their plan does not match what was in effect in 1985 for CINB employees. I have asked Bank of America for a copy of the Continental Bank plan, but was told since I’m not an employee or a retiree, I am not entitled to receive a copy.

They are probably wondering why you are asking. Did you tell them you were an employee at the time, and that you were covered under the previous plan? I’m assuming that’s why you want to know. Are you still employed by B of A? Not quite sure what your interest is in this issue.

But if you think you’re not getting the correct, promised benefit threaten to go to the PBGC– Pension Benefits Guarantee Corp. https://www.pbgc.gov/
