Received funds through Fairness Act
Hi Terry, I am a 73 year old widow and have been receiving approx $2387.00 in monthly Social Security payments. On March 4th, I received $13,037.00 !!!!!! Is this a one-time payment? Or a monthly payment? Thank you!

I assume your previous SS payments were reduced because you had a teacher’s pension or other public service pension. This is a “catch up” payment. Do not spend it!
They are so messed up, I’m afraid they might try to claw it back. Just keep it as a savings cushion.
It’s a one-time payment,designed to repay you for having had lower benefits in 2024.
You should also receive a higher monthly benefit payment.
Please write back and let me know if you do. I’m guessing you might receive an extra $1,000/month.
