Recommended CPA

By Terry Savage on July 31, 2026 | Wild Card

Hi Terry, I will be 62 at the end of the year and plan to retire then or Feb 2027 the latest. I use a “wealth advisor” who is an LPL agent. I have known this small group for 25 years as I did IT computer / network work for them. They do not offer tax advise specifically but have a CPA they work with. What is the best way to find a quality CPA?

BTW – I have recently used MaxiFi, I need to spend some more time with it but my idea is to use Maxifi to validate any plan I am being presented.

Thank you for all the advice over the years! I love T-Bills as a place to keep some of my chicken money.

It sounds like you’re on the right track. I typically think the best way to find a CPA is through recommendations from friends. And it helps to have an independent eye– so instead of using the one from your current advisor, you might ask friends in your situation who they use. You’ll want someone younger than you — who will not be retiring when you do! Or ask at your local bank trust department. Or surely you belong to a business networking group, and could ask someone there. Ask someone successful who they use!
