Wait — you’re supposed to make a plan BEFORE you retire!
So let me ask WHY you retired? Did you lose your job? Were you laid off? If so, you might qualify for unemployment benefits.
Did you apply for early Social Security? (That’s a mistake unless you have no other option, because it permanently reduces your benefits.)
Can you get another job? If so, you can tell SS you made a mistake and pay back the benefits they already paid you out of your savings.
What are you going to do for health insurance?? Since you’re not 65 yet, you must apply for health insurance under the affordable care act (Obamacare). Go to www.eHealthInsurance.com and call and ask about a policy. It will cost you money every month!
If you only haev $10,000 in savings, leave it in the BANK!!
Do you have a retirement plan at work?
These are all questions you should have considered BEFORE you “retired.” But your first, most important thing is to figure out how to bring in some income every month! Maybe drive a neighbor to doctors appointments. baby sit for a working mom, ANYTHING to bring in an income.
Hope this helps– pleasewrite back if, as I suspect, there are more serious issues.
