Retirement Annuity — getting out!

By Terry Savage on September 08, 2019 | Investments

Terry, I have about $80,000 in a Prudential Life Time Income annuity that I will have had for five years as of October 15, 2019. Rather than take the yearly guaranteed life time income, I’d like to withdraw the whole amount to put in a safer interest bearing vehicle. Is this advisable?

Terry Says

No, that is NOT advisable.  In fact, I’m pretty sure there will be “surrender charges” that would impact your withdrawal amount.  Each annuity contract is different though.  So here’s the contact info for one of my annuity specialists, who I trust completely.  He will gladly review your options. Just email Jeffrey.Oster@RaymondJames.com.
