Full disclosure- completely retired since 2013. Great pension from TRS. Wife also retired from State Farm. She has. 401K. I do not. Besides my pension I also have a small pension from teaching at Eureka College. We have approximately $ 40K in the 401 K. We pay off credit card debt each month. Have never used a financial planner (should have started 20+ years ago). We are both 74. Start?
