RMD withdrawal — wait until age 73

By Terry Savage on January 08, 2023 | Financial Planning / Retirement

I will be 73 in February 2024. My financial person told me I should withdraw his year because I would have to take out twice next year; once before April and once before December 31st . That’s not what I’m understanding from what you say on WGN. Is he right?

Your financial “person” may not be up to date on the latest changes in the rules according to the Secure Act 2.0.
Read this column for details.
You can now wait until the year you turn 73 (that is until 2024) to take your first RMD (although you can take money out at any time you need it.)
