RMDs

By Terry Savage on November 04, 2023 | Financial Planning / Retirement

Is it possible to use RMDs from a 403(b) or a 401(k) for charitable giving in order to avoid paying the taxes on the withdrawal?

Terry Says

No, you can’t make a qualified Charitable distribution from a 40l(k) plan. But you can from an IRA. So take this year’s distribution from your 40l(i) then do a direct rollover to an IRA.

You must take your 40l(k) distribution FIRST in any year before doing a rollover.
