Rmds to get still working exception

By Terry Savage on April 29, 2026 | Financial Planning / Retirement

I’m 75 years old still working at the same company for 45 years. We don’t have a 401k but was reading that I could open a 401k in my ira account so I don’t have to keep withdrawing money every year out of my ira. Thank you

Terry Says

Nope. You’ve got it all wrong. 40l(k) plans are run by employers. You can’t “open one”!!!
So you must keep taking RMDs from your IRA, and be sure to have them withhold taxes on the withdrawals.
