saving accounts
Could you please recommend a brick &mortar bank, S&K, credit union where a child could open an account for some amount of interest and receive statements so they could see their money grow. This would be for the Woodridge, IL area.
Terry Says
Most banks offer this kind of “custodial” account for children. In particular Chase bank offers a special kids account:
Chase First Banking℠: A checking-style account designed for ages 6–17, opened and owned by a parent or guardian who already has a qualifying Chase checking account. It has no monthly service fee, includes a debit card in the child’s name, and gives parents strong controls (spending limits, chore/allowance payments, and activity monitoring).
Before that, I think you’re better off with a piggy bank, a plastic clear bank with chambers for saving, spending, and charity. You can find it on Amazon here.
