Savings Advice for unempoloyed
Hi Terry,
I recently became unemployed and am waiting to receive my unemployment benefits. I am also actively seeking employment, with a few interviews lined up. I did not receive any severance from the former employer, and I have about $6,000 saved to cover expenses until the unemployment comes through. This money will last me about four months. I also live with my parents (moved in to save for a home), but I am looking for advice on what to do if I fail to gain employment and maximize my savings.
Terry Says
For sure you will find SOME kind of employment. There are too many businesses with “help wanted” signs these days. But you may have to look outside your current interests. And to get unemployment you must certify that you are looking for work.
Please write back and let me know what happens. At least you will have a roof over your head. And if you post your resume on job sites like Monster.com, I’m betting you will get some interesting offers. Don’t give up before you get started!
