Savings bonds — wait to cash them in?

By Terry Savage on October 26, 2015 | Chicken Money

I have 26 EE savings bonds that will not fully mature until 2017 thru 2030. Is it best to hold on to bonds until they no longer gain interest or is it ok to cash them in.

Terry Says:  Don’t cash them in until they stop accruing interest!  They likely have a high floor rate — and you’re getting a better return than any other alternative, such as CDs or money market funds.  Go to www.SavingsBonds.com — which is not the government website — but where you can list your bonds, find out what they are earning now, as well as the guaranteed base rate — and find out their current worth.
