SBA Loan discrepancy — FRAUD
Hello, Terry. You very graciously accepted my text on the John Williams Show when John Hansen was hosting a couple of weeks ago on 10-01-25. It involved my son getting a “bill” from SBA for a loan that was supposedly taken out in December of 2022 for $5,000 and they are requesting that he make a payment of $800 something because he has missed 34 installment payments. Your advice was to call 1/800-CALLFBI, which he finally did last week. Of course, the SBA itself is closed. The FBI conversation was fully automated, of course, and he was sent a form to fill out, which he did.
In the meantime, he has gotten a couple of more notices from the SBA. He has checked his credit report. There is no indication of an SBA loan taken out by him in 2022 or at any time, for that matter. He wouldn’t need one! You indicated that maybe you could find someone at the SBA to help with this. I would greatly appreciate any help you can afford us. My life has taken a severe left turn in the last couple of weeks and I’m having trouble keeping things I’m supposed to do in my own head much less his. Thank you, Terry. I always try to catch your segments, whether on the radio or on TV.
Terry Says
I’m stuck too, with the government shutdown. I suggest he immediately send the bill back to the SBA where they wanted him to send the payment, and write in large red letters:
FRAUD — REPORTED TO FBI!
In fact, make two copies. Send one by registered mail with signature requested. Though you may not get one!
And send one by regular mail to that address.
That will document his protest.
I’m glad it’s not on his credit report –but it is a case of fraud. Did you get an FBI investigation number, or was that not possible because of hte shutdown? If so, keep trying the minute they open up again.
Wait a few weeks to see what happens, then get back to me.
