Part of your search depends on your needs. Are you a small business, or just someone who needs help with a tax return?  Do you already have issues with the IRS or some other accounting problem?  Or is this just for routine tax filings.

The American Institute of CPAs has a search feature here:  Find a CPA – CPA License Verification (aicpa.org)  

But you could also ask at your local bank or even your church for a recommendation for an individual to help you with your personal or business tax returns.
