selling gold coins

I have 4 late 1800’s gold coins I was thinking about selling. What would be the best way to do so?

A lot depends on the quality of the coins, but these are likely very rare.
I would start at the website of the American Numismatic Association — https://www.money.org/
That will allow you to search a rough value, again depending on the condition of the coins.
You can search out numismatic member companies on this website. Be sure to get at least three estimates of value. That value depends somewhat on the price of gold, but even more importantly on the rarity of the coin and its condition.
If you’re in Chicago (as many of my readers/listeners are) then I would take the coins to Harlan J. Berk Coins — I trust them completely.
