Ask Terry Questions setting up a Treasury Direct account

setting up a Treasury Direct account

By Terry Savage on January 10, 2023 | Chicken Money

I’m trying to help my mom setup a Treasury Direct account. She has an Illinois ID card, no drivers license. The expiration date on the ID is 99-99-9999. The expiration date is asked for when setting up the account. It comes up with an error when trying to set up the account when 99-99-9999 is put in for the expiration date. Do you have a suggestion on what to do?
Thanks for your help.

Here’s what my contact at Treasury told me:
“Don’t put in the ID at all in the system. It is not a required field and the customer can open the account by leaving all the identity information blank.
