SIM card

By Terry Savage on January 06, 2026 | Wild Card

Dear Terry
I always enjoy reading your articles and financial advice . Last Sunday you mentioned SIM card protection so I decided to follow up. I contacted Xfinity mobile (my cellular service) about setting up a SIM card protection code.

Here is what they told me .

For iPhones 14 plus or newer there is no need to input a protection code . He told me that for newer models the SIM card cannot be transferable to another phone # as it’s an eSIM

My phone however is a iPhone 13 and has a physical SIM card so I set up a a SIM card code

Thanks always for your advice

Terry Says

That’s not exactly correct. SIM cards can be stolen electronically. It’s not about the physical card in your phone.
I highly recommend SIM protection.
