Single mother and sons stimulus check stolen by dead beat dad!!

By Terry Savage on May 22, 2021 |

My stimulus check which also had my two sons included was taken by my ex husband we have been separated for over 11 years and hav two different addresses which I have primary residency and a court order for child support in NY state family court with authorization that he splits his new your state and federal income taxes with me and when we do our taxes I submit my ID and medical paperwork and school documents proving that him and us have two different addresses! He decided to change my address with the irs and my direct deposit information where our stimulus payment was previously deposited for the two prior! Days before we got it issued on March 17th I called the irs and informed them my address and bank account information was changed and I didn’t do it! They reassured me that the payment wouldn’t be deposited in his account account and it was along with the state income taxes he wasn’t supposed to get I was!
Now the stimulus is the most important thing I don’t think it’s right he kept the money and never gave it to us over 4,500 $ what do I do I filed a missing payment with irs and sent them a change of address which his address was never mine!
How do I make sure he doesn’t get the payments and next stimulus payment? He has nothing to do with his children and hasn’t in years please help me !! I have all the text messages from him admitting he took it and lied to all of us he’s had both to do with our sons and has hurt them over and over again! Dead beat takes us to the cleaners again three years ago he claimed us and we never seen a dime but taking our stimulus money and here you don’t do anything for us or your own children you have had a whole other family for 11 years now dead wrong why should he get any money for kids he doesn’t even buy birthday or Christmas presents for let alone see them
