Social security

Hi Terry I’ve followed you a long time my question is: I retired from construction in 2020 living off my pension I am eligible this year for ss. My construction years were hard on my body ingesting harmful things knowing probably not good, thinking I would leave my ss to my spouse. Well as it turns out she as more serious issues since 2015 the last being breast cancer (bilateral mastectomy) that’s metastatic, do I start collecting ss now to make things easier? Sorry about the story. Thanks

Terry Says

I’m sorry to hear all that. Wait until your FULL retirement age — if later this year — and not a month before, and then start taking your SS benefits. I’m sure you can use them.
