Regarding at what age to take SS . Aren’t the schedule of payments based on actuarial tables? So the government adjusts payment so that everyone gets the same based on average life expectancy? So basically a crap shoot.

It’s a crap shoot on how long YOU will live! But it’s a fact that a higher base check, gets you a higher inflation adjustment. And if you have the choice, you should delay because that gets you an 8% higher base for every year you wait until age 70.
After you’re gone, you won’t care! But your spouse will — assuming she or he doesn’t have a high benefit on her own. Your spouse will get your higher check!
