Ask Terry Questions Social Security

Social Security

By Terry Savage on July 13, 2022 |

If you are not taking social security does your calculated benefit include the COLA? –plus the 8% kick for deferring the benefit?
I have read that there might be a 10% COLA in social security in 2023. How does that work for those not receiving but at Full Retirement age?
Thank you Terry

Terry Says

Yes, you get the higher base pay, AND the COLA increase for the year is factored into that, according to SS expert Laurence Kotlikoff. So keep waiting until at least full retirement age, or age 70!
