Social security benefits

By Terry Savage on December 11, 2023 | Financial Planning / Retirement

I’m a 66 year old retired civil service woman with a pension and started taking my small social security at age 64. My husband is 63 and retired with a pension and just started taking his social security benefits also. After reading some articles on social security benefits, is it possible for me to collect on my husband’s benefit instead of my own which would be quite a bit larger amount?

YOu need to immediately go to www.MaximizeMySocialSecurity.com to evaluate your options. I don’t know why each of you didn’t wait to full retirement age to start collecting SS. You’ve missed out on some great planning opportunities. Now you need to make sure they are taking the correct offsets out of your benefits, or face a clawback in teh future. They never have the correct answer, so use the software link above.
