Social Security Benefits
My husband applied for his SS benefits on Feb. 21st and received a notice on his account on March 31st saying they are still processing. Is this a normal timeline or should we be concerned that something is wrong? He turns 65 on May 29th.
Thank you for your time.

First of all, are you SURE he wants to take his benefits now?? That’s going to cost him a lot of money in the long run. He should wait until he’s at least 67, which will be his full retirement age. If he works now, he will be penalized $1 for every $2 he earns.
They may have done you a favor by not starting his benefits!!
If he needs health insurance he can register for Medicare at age 65 — without taking his SS retirement benefits.
