Social Security Benefits
Hi Terry, I am 66(BD Oct.) and my wife is 65 (BD July).I read different recommendations as to when one should start taking SS. I have read that the spouse (whoever makes less) shoud take theirs as soon as possible (66and4mos.?) and that the higher earner should wait to 70.
Do you have a recommendation on this topic. Thank you,

This is a VERY complex question — and I know of only one sure way to get the best answer. (Note, that is not by calling SS; they don’t know!!) Go to www.maximizemysocialsecurity.com, pay the $39, and run your specific income levels and situation through their calculator. (see my recent column on SS mistakes) Only then, will all variables be considered and you can trust the answer you get!
