Ask Terry Questions Social Security Disability

Social Security Disability

By Terry Savage on July 31, 2024 | Wild Card

I’m currently on Disability since late 2018
I’m two months from turning 63 my question is am I required to technically retire due to my age and not being able to work, social security still calls my monthly deposit as Disability, will anything change as I get older I’m not expecting any larger payments except for cost of living adjustments.

Terry Says

You made me smile.  As long as you don’t earn over the monthly limits, your disability will continue until you reach your fll retirement age — 67, in your case.  At that point the disability benefit will automatically convert to a retirement benefit of the same amount.
