Social Security Fairness
I am eligible for social security in February. I also receive a pension from the USPS. My ex husband retired with a railroad retirement and I am entitled to Tier 1 benefits from the railroad. I always thought that the railroad tier 1 would be offset by my Social security. Is this true even with the new Social Security Fairness Act? Or will I be able to collect both?
Terry Says
Because of the Fairness Act you are entitled to your full earned benefit– regardless of other pensions, or spousal pension.
