Social Security for Spouse from previous Marriage
Hi, I was wondering if my ex-wife of 20 years would be eligible for some of my SS benefits. We are both below age 65 now but will be eligible in a couple years. I hope my question is clear enough.
Terry Says
As long as you were married 10 years, and she is currently divorced for at least 2 years, she can apply to get half your benefit, if she waits till her full retirement age. (At 62 she can get a reduced benefit.) And that assumes that half of your benefit is larger than all of hers!
