Social Security — one credit short

By Terry Savage on August 02, 2024 | Financial Planning / Retirement

I’ve recently been declined for Social Security. I was for credit shy of becoming eligible. I am going to be 64 years old and I’m wondering if there’s anything besides going to work for another year that can correct this problem? My husband plans on waiting for his Social Security as long as possible, so we have a few years before he will collect. Thank you.

Terry Says

Oh definitely continue to work.  It would be a shame to give up all those lifetime benefits because you fell one credit short!  Go back to work now!!!  And wait to collect until your full retirement age at 67.
