Social Security Retirement Benefits
How far in advance of the planned start date for SS retirement benefits should the application be made? For example, if the start date is November 1, do I apply on November 1 or now?

You should apply online three months before your full retirement eligibility month. Make sure that you do not want your benefits to start until you have reached your Full Retirement Age. Your first check will come the month AFTER your birthday.
