Social Security sign up for Fed employee

By Terry Savage on June 03, 2023 | Financial Planning / Retirement

I’m a federal employee still working turning 65 in June. When I retire I will be able to keep my health insurance for supplemental insurance along with Medicare
I want to have Medicare part A and B when I retire. When do I have to sign up for this without being penalized for late sign up?

Terry Says

Honestly, I don’t know enough about the interaction of the Federal employee retirement plan and Medicare to give you a good answer. You should definitely ask the HR department for instructions on this process.
Here is the most comprehensive advice I could find on the subject — and naturally it comes from AARP!
