Social Security updates.
In the past, my SS benefits were not available to my wife upon my death (due to her being an Illinois retired teacher with her existing TRS pension. ) Is that in the process of being changed? Looking forward to your response. Thank you.

It IS being changed. And she can now apply for spousal benefits if at her full retirement age (or earlier with a reduced benefit) if she isn’t receiving SS based on her own income. She will also get your full benefit (assuming it is larger than hers) if you precede her in death.
