Social Security – when to start collecting

my husband thinks we should start collecting (we will both be 67 this year) and putting it away for retirement (we don’t have much else in the way of savings) and still keep working – I was of the opinion that we should wait until 70 to collect to get the max benefit – who is right? better to collect and put in an interest bearing account or wait to get a bigger payout? thank you
