my wife is going to retire at 58. when she turns 62 she wants to take her SSA . i have been getting my SSA for 5 years. will she get all she is owed at 62. even though im gettin mine.

Her account is completely separate from yours. Her amount depends on her earnings history. BUT she will get a significantly reduced lifetime benefit if she doesn’t wait until her full retirement age — 67. I always suggest people delay retirement, or live off savings in the interim if they can afford to do that. She will be losing out on an 8% PER YEAR increase in benefits that will impact her over the rest of her life if she takes SS early.
