State Tax refund
My wife and I are retired so we do not have W-2s. When I filed our state taxes I forgot to include the stubs from our IRA accounts for the RMDs. Schwab withholds funds for our taxes. I received a letter telling me I needed to provide them proof that money was withheld. That was in April. I immediately sent them the proof from Schwab. I have not heard back from them. The amount of the refund is $227.00 . My letter ID no. When I try to resolve this online It tells me that ID is not recognized. Please Help me.

Oh, I wish I could help. But it is impossible to get through to the Illinois Department of Revenue. Try contacting your state representative. And if you do not get satisfaction, use this proof of withholding as a CREDIT on NEXT YEAR’s state tax return — the one you will file in April 2021.
