How do I fix my state return if it’s been rejected for the last 5 years?

For that, you need to go to a tax service. I have no idea why your state return was “rejected.” Did they give you a reason? Have they tried to reach you? Did you owe taxes?? Were Illinois taxes withheld from your paycheck? This is too specific a question for me to answer, but I suggest you not let it go!!
