Stimulus check
Good morning Terry,
My question is – In 2018 my wife and I had taxable income over the maximum to receive a stimulus check. In 2019 our income was substantially reduced due to my retirement. We did not file our 2019 tax return until April 15 because we owed the government money. Will the government go back and look at the 2019 returns after the first rounds of checks are out? Thanks in advance, Jim Meyer
Terry Says
Probably not. BUT you might still get a credit on your 2020 return. They haven’t organized that concept yet. I suggest you file your 2019 return asap — even if you can’t pay the taxes until the deadline of July 15th. Maybe they will still catch you in the current pass.
