Ask Terry Questions Stimulus check

Stimulus check

By Terry Savage on May 03, 2020 | Wild Card

My husband passed away in Sept. I filed jointly like usual as I can for 2 years. The Get My Payment tool says my info is wrong each time either with 2019 or 18 info entered. I am assuming it’s because he has passed and his number is inactive but if I enter my number at the beginning says I am eligible so how do I figure out if I am or I am a loophole?

Terry Says

You don’t. STAY AWAY from that website! It’s all messed up! YOu will receive your stimulus payment by mail at the address on your most recent return. And you will likely get $2400, as you filed jointly. His payment is yours to keep according to the IRS. Be patient, as you should have the payment by the end of May.
