Stimulus check

By Terry Savage on May 09, 2020 | Wild Card

I recieve SSI. Before it was known that those who receive SSI didn’t have to fill out the non filers form, I went ahead and did it anyway. When I recently checked the get my payment status it said my check was being mailed to me. When I filled out the form I put in my bank account information for direct deposit. I normally receive my monthly benefit via direct deposit so why are they mailing my check instead of direct deposit? It is not a big deal but I was just wondering.
Thank you.

That website is so messed up, and I don’t believe much of what yu find there! It sort of defaults to “the check is in the mail” kind of response for a lot of people. They are just getting around to paying out on SSI — and it could take into mid-June. So keep looking at both places — mail and more likely into your direct deposit account. And stay away from that website!
