Ask Terry Questions Stimulus check

Stimulus check

By Terry Savage on January 18, 2021 | Wild Card

Terry, the IRS sent my $600 stimulus check to a bank account that I have since closed since filing my taxes. I called the bank and they said it was bounced back to the government and that they will mail a paper check. When I checked on the IRS.GOV site, it stated that if check that goes to a closed account, you cannot change it and receive the money, instead you need to claim it on your income tax? Is that correct, can you help with the correct answer. Thanks
