My son graduated high school last year, he is 19, doesn’t have a job, lives with me but I can’t claim him as a dependent. Can he get a stimulus check on his own?

He can get the original $1200 and the next $600 if he files his own 2020 return, even without income for 2020 — as long as you didn’t claim him as a dependent in 2020.

The new $1400 stimulus is another story. If he has never filed his own return, he will get the $1400 when he files his 2020 return — but it may take a while.
