Stimulus Check for Widows

By Terry Savage on January 02, 2021 | Wild Card

I saw another question relating this but didn’t see an answer. I’m a widow of 2 years with 2 kids. I’m wondering why I don’t get a stimulus check? If my husband were here I’d get one, but since I guess I’m now considered single I don’t qualify. It’s very upsetting because I have 2 kids and am trying to pay everything on one income. Why don’t they take widows into consideration? Thank you!

You’re wrong. You DO qualify for a stimulus check. AND you’ll get the original $1200 plus, for your children- – as well as the next check. But if you don’t file a tax return they haven’t found you. The solution is to file a 2020 tax return as soon as the forms come out in February. You will claim the original REFUNDABLE tax credit for your elf and your children, as well as teh new $600 for each of you — if it hasn’t arrived by the time you file The IRS will send you this refund in the form of a check. Of course, that assumes your 2020 income is less than $75,000.
