Stimulus check — new filing status
My husband died in 2018, I filed my tax return as a joint return in 2018. I have 2 children, who in 2018 at times of filing were 16 and 20. They are now 18 and 22 (late year birthdays). My 2019 tax return when filed will be as ‘single’. I exceed the single wage cap for the stimulus, but would have been eligible if the status was ‘married’. Also will there be any payment for my kids?

If you exceed the cap as a ‘single’ then the check will be phased out completely if your income exceeds $99,000- -if less but over the limit for a full check, it will be reduced by $5 for every $100 over the limit.
Do NOT list your children as dependents. They are too old for you to get the $500. They should file their own returns as independent, even if no, or low, income. Then they will be eligible for $1200 each.
