Hey Terry so my son is 18 I’m not filling him as a dependent so will get a check?

He will need to file a 2020 tax return — even if he doesn’t earn much — and show that he cannot be considered a dependent because he is at least 50 percent self-supporting. Then he will get the $600 stimulus check — IF YOU DO NOT DECLARE HIM AS A DEPENDENT. Children over age 17 don’t qualify for a check anyway unless they are “independent.”
