STIMULUS Checks Custodial Parents
Good afternoon. My question is about the noncustodial parent that is behind on child support. My son is 24 yrs old and his father is self employed. He owes over $85,000. He has always played around with his income. According to the tax transcript he was due assistance but, he owes me a lot of money. I haven’t received a check and, I’m wondering what to do. Can you help me?

You should have received YOUR stimulus payment. If you didn’t file taxes, don’t get SSI, then you must register here for yours:

As for your son, if you ex listed him as a dependent on his return, he can’t get a stimulus check of his own. BUT the person who listed him as a dependent doesn’t get the $500 because he is over 16!
Now, if your son was NOT listed as a dependent anywhere, then he should use the link above to file, since I’m guessing he did not file a tax return. It can’t hurt to try — but he will be rejected if either parent used his SS number as a dependent on a tax return.
