Stimulus number 3
Hi Terry, my question is about stimulus. My wife and I filed married jointly we received the first two payments. What have not received the 3rd as of March 18th. We did file our 2020 tax return. We do have to pay tax this year. I’m wondering if this has anything to do with the delay? Our adjusted gross income is under 150000 and we have two dependents and one independent daughter living in the household. One of our dependents age 17 have not filed his 2020 return yet. They all earned less than15K last year. Thanks.

They might have looked at your 2019 return — were you eligible based on that? Did they have your direct deposit info from 2019?
If they have your 2020 return and reviewed it, it will be based on that. And if there was no direct deposit info on it the mney will come in a check or debit card in the mail. It has nothing to do with owing taxes on your 2020 return.
Why would your under age 17 dependent file his own return? Is he 50% self-supporting? Does he have taxable income? If so, and if he is NOT a dependent on YOUR 2020 return he could file for the original $1200 plus $600 payment on line 30 of his 2020 return. Read this.
