Stimulus overpayment?
Hi Terry, I heard you today with Roe talk about if ides overpays you and then sends you a letter that they want it back. I think you said lawyers are saying they can’t do that because of some law. Curious, it happened to me

I was talking about the Federal stimulus payments, not STATE unemployment. The letter of the Cares Act (the stimulus bill) states that the govt cannot claw back overpayments. And we were discussing the IRS order to return stimulus checks paid to the deceased.
But the ILLINOIS UNEMPLOYMENT (IDES) can definitely come back at you for fraud if they paid you and you were working, for example.
